december 2017 // my 5 favorite photos

November was pretty busy with trips to Seattle and Las Vegas, followed by Thanksgiving. I'd just barely caught my breath before December's trip to Denver, followed by Christmas in Georgia, and now, to ring in a very cold New Year's at home. The days are short and the photos dark, but the lights make everything look cozy.

Here's to a new year and fresh starts!

december 2016 // my 5 favorite photos

This month, fall turned into winter, there were Christmas parties and a surprise visit to see Meg in Virginia, fun dinners and a week off work. It's been lovely, but you wouldn't know that from my snapshots. (I took very few.) Christmas tree lights (out of focus, of course, because I roll like it's 2008 over here) and dogs were my favorite shots this month.

December 29, 2016 :: We put up a tree this year, and kept the decorations simple since this is the first year we had a tree and a dog at the same time. Out-of-focus = more festive, I say.

october 2016 // my 5 favorite photos

It's fall in New England and that means one thing: bring on the foliage shots

We took a few days off in early October to spend a few days in Maine with friends. It was far enough north that the leaves had started to turn and early enough that it was still pretty warm outside.

But the real reason for our trip north wasn't to see the leaves or drink wine in front of a fire (although we did plenty of both). There were some new puppies, around 8 weeks old, to hang out with.

Later in the month, I spoke to some engineering students at MIT about what it was like to work at Autodesk. I expected MIT to be intimidating (I'm not an alum). It was anything but, and in some ways it felt to me like any other college campus.

That's it - my five favorite photos for October. All were shot with my iPhone 6+. November, my favorite month of the year, should be a fun one - I have some traveling and celebrating to do.  I'm off to Washington (state) and Las Vegas, and near the end of the month will celebrate my 45th birthday.

I don't know if November is still the traditional time for #NaPhoPoMo; it seems to be, if a quick Google search is any indication. It may be crazy to post a photo every day in November, when the days get short and light is scarce but I'm planning to do just that, because I like it.

september 2016 // my 5 favorite photos

September, you were all right. Out of all the photos I took this month, this one is my favorite.

Based on the subjects of my favorites, I guess I spent a good amount of time this month looking up at things - sunrises, sunsets, afternoon skies, and ceilings.

I love the idea of periodically combing through my photos and editing it down to my five favorites. I learned of the idea here, which also led me to discover Xanthe and Andrea who've been doing this for quite awhile. Many thanks for the inspiration!
